Did you know that people were skateboarding in Afghanistan? > Skateistan

The Skateistan initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to help children and young adults ranging in ages from 5 to 25 to get empowered and express themselves. It frees these kids and opens new horizons to them. 40% of the skaters are girls, amazing right! Who said skateboarding was only for dudes??

Oliver Percovich is the man behind this initiative that started from the ground in 2008. All I can say is that he had big balls to do it in Afghanistan (Can you imagine doing that??) and most importantly a BIG heart as he’s helping kids coming from low incomes families and “difficult” areas/situations.

Oliver and his team have also opened other locations in Cambodia, and South Africa.

There are 2 locations in Afghanistan: Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif.

Look at this video that introduces this amazing adventure!
